Manufacturer Description
Pop-up shades are LCD screen protective covers that also double as glare guards. These sturdy and lightweight covers are easily installed (and removed), but most importantly help to protect a digital camera's expensive LCD screen. When flipped up, the shade provides easier viewing of the display in bright sunlight.

The cover pops up to form a three-sided canopy over the LCD to diminish glare and folds right back down when you're finished. Even with the shade flipped up, an optically clear plastic piece guards the LCD, preventing damage to the screen. Pop-up shades are available in both the snap and stick-on design. Snap-on shades hook onto the grooves of your camera while stick-on shades attach to the camera with a non-residue adhesive that keeps the camera finish smooth and clean.

Unlike other "one size fits all" LCD hoods out on the market, Delkin's pop-up shades are designed for specific DSLR camera models. Also, Delkin's Universal pop-up shades fit hundreds of point-and-shoot models, giving you the best option for finding a shade that works perfectly for your camera.

Pop-up shades snap up with the flick of a finger, shading the screen from bright light and protecting the fragile LCD screen.

Frequently asked questions:
Q: How does it close?
A: Fold in the two flaps and push down the shade.

Q: My hood detached from my point-and-shoot mini pop-up shade. Is it broken?
A: No. The shade detaches from the base so that you can remove the shade and still use the LCD protector.

Q: Why is my screen foggy and hard to see through?
A: Each screen comes with a protective film that prevents it from scratching during shipment. The film must be peeled off before use.

Q: If there is not a pop-up shade for my camera, will another model's shade fit my screen?
A: Unfortunately, each pop-up shade is made specifically for certain camera bodies. We can not guarantee that different models will fit cameras other than the ones they were made for.

A must buy accessory for the D50
If you own a Nikon D50 that probably means that you spent a couple bucks to get the camera, maybe an extra lens, and possible even a gear bag. With all this invested, why not protect one of the most important parts of the camera besides the lenses? This handy little device will keep debris and smears off of your LCD as well as protect it from the occasional bump against something that might otherwise scratch or crack the LCD. When you need to check an image in sunlight, the top and side shutters do a brilliant job of keeping the glare away so that you can delete that bad image or appreciate the awesome shot you just got. I really enjoy this handy little accessory and am suprised it's not part of the camera already. I would highly recommend this to anyone who owns a D50 no matter where you shoot or what type of shots you take.

Does the Trick
I got this for my Nikon D50. Very easy to attach and I can now throw my camera in a bag and go without worry. It does make viewing pictures a little cramped, but keeps the glare down. I wish I could have found a clear cover similar to the ones used on the higher end SLRs, but no luck. The two side windows click open, and you have to push them both in, hold them down and then close the lid. Annoying, but for the protection it adds to my camera, WELL worth the extra second it takes to close.

LCD Cover for Nikon D50
I ordered the cover for my recently purchased Nikon D40x and was impressed with it enough to but two of the covers for the D50 to give to family as gifts. The cover does a nice job of protecting the LCD and if you really don't want to use the Snap-up glare shield you simply slide it off, leaving just the LCD shield in place.
